“The present Fascist government in Hungary is to blame for the wave of anti-Semitism that prevails there now, and there is no hope for the amelioration of the situation of Hungarian Jews as long as the Horthy government will remain in power.”
This statement was made on Monday to a representative of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency by Count Michael Karolyi, first president of Hungary, on his arrival in New York. Count Karolyi, who had been barred from this country until now because of his radical views, will remain two months in America, during which time he will lecture on “Fascism in Europe.” The Count stated that in his lectures he will also discuss the Jewish situation in Europe.
