National Conference of Jewish National Fund Opens in Philadelphia

The national conference of the Jewish National Fund will open here on Sunday morning in the Benjamin Franklin Hotel, and will continue all day. The convention will open with greetings from Rabbi Max D. Klein, chairman of the Philadelphia reception committee, after which Emanuel Neumann, president of the Jewish National Fund of America, will speak, and Solomon Lamport, treasurer, will give a financial report. Addresses will be given by Major Daniel Hopkin, British Member of Parliament; Dr. Schmarya Levin, Elias M. Epstein, secretary of the Jewish National Fund Head Office in Jerusalem, and Albert St. Peter, of the Equitable Life Assurance Society.

In connection with the National Fund conference, a meeting of the National Executive Committee of the Zionist Organization of America will take place here Saturday evening in the Hotel Walton. Leaders in Zionist work throughout the country are expected to attend this extraordinary session. Rabbi James Heller of Cincinnati, is chairman of the Executive Committee of the Zionist Organization of America and is expected to preside at the session on Saturday evening.

At the afternoon session of the Jewish National Fund conference Sunday, Julius Simon, who was one of the directors of the Jewish National Fund when its headquarters were in The Hague, and who is a noted economist and expert on land questions, has consented to read a paper on “National Fund Land Policy in Palestine.” Mr. Simon is a member of the Board of Directors of the Palestine Economic Corporation.
