Peter Bercovitch and Joseph Cohen, Jewish members of the Quebec provincial legislature, are to introduce a bill at this session amending the education act so as to allow the creation of a Jewish committee of five members, to be appointed by the Lieutenant-Governor, on the existing provincial education council. These five would negotiate with existing school organizations about Jewish representation on the Protestant School Boards, or would establish separate Jewish schools should negotiations fail.

A delegation of the “Separate Jewish School Committee,” headed by M. Caiserman, chairman, Rabbi Cohen and M. Garber, will interview Premier Taschereau in Quebec City this morning, insisting that the provincial government make provision for the establishment of separate Jewish schools in Montreal.
