A delegation of the rabbinical conference now being held here, composed of the “Chofetz Chaim,” the rabbis of Belz, Ger and Alexander, ex-Senator Oszer Mendelsohn and the influential Belz Hassid, Schreiquer, visited the Minister of the Interior, Foreign Minister Jozewski, Minister of Education and Cults Czerwinski, and lastly, Premier Bartel.
At the conference the “Chofetz Chaim” gave his blessings to the Polish government. The delegates spoke Yiddish and their words were translated by an interpreter. The rabbis presented the ministers with a memorandum of the decisions of their convention.
With regard to the government’s plan to enforce a law that all Polish rabbis must know Polish, the rabbinical delegation asked the ministers for a ten-year respite before the law is brought into force. The ministers promised to study the memoranda and to announce their decision later.
