Elias M. Epstein, General Secretary of Jerusalem headquarters of the Jewish National Fund, left New York for Palestine via London on Friday after a visit of about eight weeks made at the invitation of Emanuel Neumann, president of the Jewish National Fund in this country.
Before leaving, Mr. Epstein said that there can only be considerable gratification at the abundant interest and friendship evinced for the Jewish National Fund in America today, which was probably unprecedented. He had spoken to leaders of most of the main currents of Zionist opinion, and some of those of the non-Zionists, and had received assurances of sympathy with the aims and work of the Fund.
Recent events had brought the problem of the land, which it is the object of the National Fund to acquire in Palestine, to the fore, and it is being freely recognized that much more consideration must be given to this question in the United States, he stated.
While, in harmony with a general rise of receipts in most countries, the receipts of the Fund in America showed a progress of 20% compared with last year, due to the organization activity directed by Emanuel Neumann, under whom the National Fund is steadily improving, an extra effort is undoubtedly needed to meet the situation in Palestine.
Plans are expected to be worked out in London during the forthcoming meetings of the Zionist Actions Committee and the Jewish Agency Administrative Committee for National Fund activity in the early future in the U. S. A.
Gedaliah Bublick, president of the Mizrachi Organization of America, left for London on the S.S. Berengaria.
Mr. Bublick, who is a member of the Zionist Actions Committee and of the Administrative Committee of the Jewish Agency, went to London to participate in the meeting of the Actions Committee which will open there on March 16th, and in the conference of the Administrative Committee of the Jewish Agency, which will open in London on March 23rd. It is expected that questions of the greatest importance for the Zionist movement will be discussed and decided upon at these two London conferences. Mr. Bublick will return to New York immediately after the meeting of the Administrative Committee of the Agency adjourns.
