A large clock factory, the first of its kind in Soviet Russia, was finished today by the Ort in Mohilev-Podolsk. One hundred and fifty Jews will be employed. The investment in machinery by the Ort is valued at $20,000. The factory will have a production of 100,000 clocks annually. The Ort has sent an expert to Schwarzwald to study clock manufacturing methods which will be applied at Mohilev-Podolsk.
A textile factory that will employ 135 Jewish girls has also been opened by the Ort. Sixty thousand kilos of yarn bought by the Ort and Agro-Joint abroad for the declassed Jews has arrived and will be distributed among the Jewish artisans. This yarn will be of great relief to some 12,000 Jewish families engaged in stockingmaking who are undergoing a serious crisis because of a lack of raw materials.
