In publishing a letter from Alex Gumberg, an official of the Russian-American Chamber of Commerce in New York, who some weeks ago it had attacked as having deserted Soviet interests, the “Pravda,” official organ of the Communist Party, is seen as white-washing him, for the “Pravda” seldom prints letters to the editor.

The “Pravda” makes no comment on the lengthy explanation signed by Mr. Gumberg, in which he denies that he gave up Soviet citizenship for American citizenship and he explains that he has lived in the United States since 1903, and terms the assertions contained in the “Pravda’s” attack as “absolutely false and malicious insinuations.”
