The Union of Jewish Communities of Greece, for whose creation in June, 1929, the Jewish Agency was instrumental as it was called into being in order to elect Greek representatives for the Zurich conference, held its first congress this week with 57 delegates in attendance.

The congress adopted a budget of 100,000 drachmas ($13,000), discussed the appointment of a chief rabbi, the creation of a rabbinical college in Salonika and the Keren Hayesod. The delegates went on record as favoring five inscriptions in the Balfour Golden Book for the Jewish communities of Greece.
