Mlle. Lena Bernstein, an aviatrix of French-Jewish parentage, has achieved a new endurance mark of 35 hours, 46 minutes, 55 seconds, which breaks the world record for airplanes of all kinds, having only one pilot, male or female. She surpassed the women’s endurance record by almost ten hours held by Mlle. Maryse, and was forced to come down only when her fuel gave out.
Miss Elinor Smith, whose record for endurance flying in America is 26 hours, 21 minutes, 32 seconds, has wired her congratulations to the French aviatrix and has announced that she will attempt to break Mlle. Bernstein’s record in June.
