The cornerstone for the million dollar hospital at Magnesia, the funds for which were bequeathed by the late Morris Schinasi, American millionaire cigarette manufacturer, was laid here today by Mrs. Schinasi. The ceremonies were participated in by the mayor of the district of Vali and various municipal officials as well as the Turkish minister of health who later received Mrs. Schinasi at the government house in Angora and thanked her on behalf of the Turkish people.

Mr. Schinasi, who died in New York September 10, 1928, was a native of Magnesia, a small town near Smyrna. He came to the United States as an immigrant and made a fortune in manufacturing cirgarettes. In his will he left $1,000,000 for the hospital in his native city.
