The removal of the ritual washing stand from its customary place about ten yards from the Wailing Wall was ordered today by the government authorities. This is the latest government regulation affecting the Wailing Wall. Some weeks ago beggars were banned from in front of the Wall.
The order removing the wash stand was objected to by the beadle who was locked up by the police after his protest but was later released. Like previous orders with regard to the Wailing Wall this one was enforced without any previous notice and during prayers.
