During his life-time, the late Felix Fuld, merchant and philanthropist, refused to permit the erection of a tablet in the new $4,000,000 Beth Israel Hospital, to commemorate his large share in the work of making that institution a reality. Now, however, one year and a half after his death, some eighty-five personal friends have decreed otherwise for a tablet has just been unveiled in the reception hall of the hospital bearing a likeness of Mr. Fuld and the inscription: “In affectionate remembrance of Felix Fuld whose philanthropy led in establishing this institution.” Mr. and Mrs. Fuld’s contributions totalled more than $500,000.
Felix Berg, a nephew of the deceased, unveiled the tablet. Rabbi Julius Silberfeld offered the invocation and Samuel F. Leber, acting president of the Conference of Jewish Charities, delivered the eulogy.
