535,648 Jewish Soldiers Fought in Six Wars of United States

A total of 235,648 Jewish soldiers fought in the armies of the United States from the Revolutionary War to the World War the delegates to the ninth annual encampment of the Jewish War Veterans were told by Dr. Winthrop Ames, representing General Frank T. Hines, director of the United States Veterans’ Bureau in Washington.

Of this number, Dr. Ames said, 46 fought in the Revolutionary War, 44 in the War of 1812,58 in the Mexican War, 8,000 in the Civil War, 2,500 in the Spanish-American War and 225,000 in the World War. Eleven hundred Jews were cited for valor.

Representative Charles Brown, speaking on behalf of Governor Norman S. Case of Rhode Island praised the patriotism of the Jews in American life.
