Six hundred Jewish athletes from nine countries took part in the opening yesterday of the Maccabean Olympiad, a sort of Jewish Olympic meet. Dr. L. E. Lewer is chairman of the committee handling the games. Lazarus Barth welcomed the participants on behalf of the German Zionist Federation.
Special greetings were reserved for the ten Jewish boys who traveled by motorcycle from Tel Aviv to take part in the games. The rabbinical and municipal authorities also greeted the Olympiad.
