The entire Jewish population of Borscha, now practically homeless as a result of the fire, will be compelled to emigrate as further residence there is considered hopeless, according to letters from Borscha reaching the Jewish community of Dornwatr. The letters complain that the poverty among the Jews is such that it is impossible to raise one hundred lei among them.
Charges that the fire was started by anti-Semites who ignited gasoline in various parts of the town are also contained in the letters. This is confirmed by an inquiry into the fire made by a delegation from the Jewish community of Viseul. The delegation wired the results of its investigation to Premier Maniu and Vayda Voyvoed, minister of the Interior.
