Impelled by his own experience, Harry Ehrlich, 26, a Jewish attorney, of Chelsea, Mass., has filed a bill in the legislature for a state university to be situated in Boston with free tuition for all Massachusetts girls and boys.
The proposed university, with courses in law, medicine, liberal arts and technical subjects, would, under Ehrlich’s plan, be similar to the big state universities in other parts of the country.
It is his idea that if it is a good investment to provide free grammar and high schools, it is equally as necessary to establish a degree-granting university, where young men and women could glean an education without worrying about the cost and how to obtain the wherewithal for their college expenses.
