The United Hebrew Schools of Detroit, at its annual meeting elected J. Friedberg, a pioneer worker in the cause of Hebrew education, honorary president for life. Maurice H. Zackheim was re-elected president. Judge Harry B. Keidan was chosen first vice-president and Hyman Goldman second vice-president. David Robinson and Abraham Rogvoy were re-elected treasurer and secretary.
Forty-two directors were chosen for three, two and one year terms.
Mr. Zackheim, in his annual report as president, stated that 1,400 boys and girls are receiving a Hebrew education in the schools. He reported that the indebtedness is being reduced, and to wipe out the mortgages he recommended that 2,000 members be enrolled to pay $5 a year each. The schools receive $50,000 a year from the Jewish Welfare Federation.
