Bucharest (Jul. 26)
A few hours after appearing before the state’s attorney in Bucharest, Zelea Codreanu, notorious anti-Semitic leader, was officially held under arrest and will probably remain under arrest until he is tried for anti-Semitic agitation. Manifestos bearing his signature have flooded Bucharest in the last few days with appeals to kill the Jews.
The news of his arrest was revealed today by Minister of the Interior Vayda Voevod to the correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. Dr. Vayda Voevod promised the correspondent to eliminate some of the censorship difficulties which he has experienced in the last two days. The arrest of Codreanu has been hailed with great satisfaction by all Jewish leaders in Roumania who have been demanding his arrest for some time.
