Harry Lurie, superintendent of the Jewish Social Service Bureau of Chicago, resigned today to become director of the Bureau of Jewish Social Research in New York. He will succeed Samuel Goldsmith who is going to Chicago as director of the Chicago Jewish Charities.
Mr. Lurie, who will leave for New York in October or November, is a member of the faculty of the University of Chicago and a former member of the Illinois Public Welfare Board. He came here six years ago from Ann Arbor where he was on the faculty of the department of sociology at the University of Michigan.
