There is a possibility that the new Conservative government will shortly put into effect legislation that will further sharply restrict immigration to Canada from Europe and the United States. This is foreshadowed in a conference of the cabinet today that discussed further immigration restrictions. The desire to close the gates of Canada to immigrants is traceable to the unemployment situation.

It was also announced here today that Senator Raoul Dandurand, Canada’s representative on the Council of the League of Nations, who has always championed the rights of minorities, has been replaced by Sir Robert Borden, a former Conservative premier of Canada.
