M. Anarastu, police prefect of Galatz, will be dismissed because an investigation has established that he sponsored the recent anti-Semitic disturbances in Galatz, according to a report in the “Adaverul.” In the meantime the district court at Jassy, the seat of the anti-Semitic student movement, has sentenced two students, Tatrastu and Tanait, to twenty days’ imprisonment each for maltreating a number of their Jewish colleagues and Persu, a high school student, has been given a milder term for beating Jews in the streets.
While Jewish leaders today asked for an audience with Victor Cadere, chief of the secret police, to ask him to speed up the investigation into the fire that early this week damaged the largest Jewish synagogue in the country at Maramoresh Sighet, the notorious anti-Semitic agitator, Carol Danila and Nicolai Totu, for whom a police dragnet is out, were reported to have passed through Kishinev but before they could be apprehended disappeared again.
