The breach between the Arab Executive and the Grand Mufti is growing wider each day, a prominent member of the Arab Executive today informed the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. Mouzza Kazem Pasha, president of the Arab Executive, is not permitting the Grand Mufti to interfere in the activities of the Executive. Leading members of the Executive say that the Grand Mufti has ambitions to be an Arab “Mussolini” and they also charge him with nepotism in the affairs of the Moslem Supreme Council of which he is the president.
Earlier in the week there was another indication of a growing rift between the Mufti and the Arab Executive in the dismissal of Auni Abdul Hadi, secretary of the Arab Executive and counsel for the Arabs at the Inquiry Commission and Wailing Wall Commission, as counsel for the Moslem Supreme Council. The dismissal was said to have been due to the Mufti’s fear of Abdul Hadi’s growing power and influence.
With the dismissal of Abdul Hadi it was expected that the long smoldering dispute between the Arab Executive and the Moslem Supreme Council would break out, with Abdul Hadi joining the opposition to the Mufti.
