If the geneology of the Bismarck family as published in the local press yesterday is to be believed, Prince Otto Leopold von Bismarck, the Iron Chancellor, and the moving spirit in the unification of Germany, was a direct descendant of Jews. According to the geneology, Prince Bismarck’s father was married to a daughter of Countess Hoyo, Alice Whitehead. The latter was a granddaughter of Sir James Whitehead, at one time the leader of the London Jewish community.
