Large numbers of Jewish employees of steamship companies whose vessels usually transport large groups of immigrants have lost their positions as a result of a drastic reduction in the staffs of the companies. The reduction is directly traceable to the further restrictions on immigration to America which went into force October 1. Seventy-five per cent of the Jewish employees have been dismissed, including a number who have held their positions for eight or nine years.
