The election victory of the Hitlerites in Germany is in no way connected with the domestic politics of Austria, Chancellor Vaugoin assured the press today. The Austrian parliamentary election campaign is aimed directly at checking the growth of Socialism and only for this reason is the Heimwehr included in the new government, he said.

In the meantime former Chancellor Schober is conferring with the Zionists in connection with the establishment of a center party bloc. It is doubtful, however, whether the Zionists or any other Jewish groups will join the center bloc unless the Pan-German party, a party to the bloc, promises to refrain from anti-Semitic propaganda during the election campaign.

Schober has in the meantime renewed negotiations with the Pan-German leaders in an effort to persuade them that the center bloc is only a temporary election expedient and not a permanent political body. He is trying to point out to them that after the elections it will not be necessary for them to remain with the Democrats and the Economic party.
