$55,000 to Philanthropies in Frederick Mandel’s Will

Mrs. Blanche Mandel, widow of the late Frederick Mandel, chairman of the board of Mandel Bros.’ department store, and their two sons, Frederick L., Jr., and Leon, are the principal beneficiaries of his estate, according to the terms of his will which was admitted to probate here. Mr. Mandel died in Paris on Sept. 20. Bequests for three charities are included in the will. Further contributions are intrusted to the discretion of his widow. “I know my beloved wife with suitable discretion will make suitable contributions to charity,” the will reads.

The Jewish Charities of Chicago is left $25,000. The United Charities of Chicago gets $10,000, the Catholic Charities of this city, $10,000 and the Mercy Hospital, $10,000.
