Prevailing sentiment among the Jews of Canada in view of the British statement on policy in Palestine is one of great indignation and condemnation of the government’s decision to curb further Jewish efforts in Palestine. The Zionist Organization of Canada has called a special meeting of its national council for Monday night to consider the attitude of Canadian Jewry.

The local Jewish press contains sharply worded editorials. One paper says, “The reward of pogroms seems greater than peaceful civilized efforts, which is the most tragic part of the whole situation. At the present moment the whole Jewish nation stands behind Dr. Weizmann and through him and with him voices its protest against the new White Paper which for us is a black paper.”
