Rabbi Louis Schwefel Named to Yonkers Pulpit

Rabbi Louis J. Schwefel has just been elected to serve the Hebrew Institute of New Rochelle for the next year, after having conducted services as guest rabbi during the high holy days.

Rabbi Schwefel conducts a column about Jews in politics and government under the literary pseudonym of “Hillel the Observer.” He has been especially active in Washington, D. C. He is a former chairman of the United Palestine Appeal Drive there, and former president of the Washington Zionist District. He has been a lecturer in Jewish History at Cornell University.
