Fifty thousand dollars was paid by one thousand guests to attend a dinner for the benefit of the Hebrew National Orphan Home, Yonkers. The dinner, which was held on Tuesday night at the Hotel Astor, also marked the confirmation of thirty-eight of the 400 orphan boys in the home.
Among those who spoke were Major-General Hanson E. Ely, Supreme Court Justice Aaron J. Levy and Benjamin F. Spellman, who was toastmaster. Judge Otto A. Rosalsky, Police Commissioner Mulrooney, Albert Ottinger and John F. Curry, leader of Tammany Hall, were among the guests. Telegrams were received from Governor Roosevelt and Mayor Walker.
