Great importance is attached by the Yiddish daily, Haint, to the statement by Titus Filipowicz, Polish ambassador to the United States, that Poland intends to increase the percentage of Jews employed in state enterprises and in state offices. In a conference with officials of the American Jewish Committee in New York, Mr. Filipowicz admitted that the proportion of Jews in these offices was not just and that his government was planning to increase the percentage and to influence the various municipalities to do likewise.
Seeing only a moral value in the promised annulment of the Czaristic restrictions and finding it remarkable that Mr. Filipowicz’ statement was made in the United States instead of in Poland, the Haint says that the Jews can now expect actual deeds.
