Prof. Horace M. Kallen was the principal speaker yesterday at the closing session of the Avukah national convention, which, besides electing officers for the ensuing year, adopted resolutions protesting against the White Paper and thanking Prof. Albert Einstein for delivering his first message to America under the auspices of Avukah.
That anti-Semitism is not decreasing in this country, though its forms are becoming more subtle and varied, was the opinion voiced by some speakers, who said that the academic life of the American-Jewish student is a difficult one and that the Avukah helps to lighten his burden.
Samuel Blumenfeld was re-elected president of Avukah for the second year. Other officers elected were: Honorary President, Max Rhoade; Honorary Secretary, James Waterman Wise; Vice-Presidents, Dr. Mitchell Salem Fisher, Maurice B. Pekarsky and Sidney Jacobi; Treasurer, Rehabiah Lewin-Epstein; National Executive Secetary, George M. Hyman.
