Jewish Minister of Justice in Czecho Slovakia Attains 60th. Birthday

Dr. Alfred Meissner, Minister of Justice and leader of the Czech Social Democratic Party, has reached his 60th. birthday this week. After the Revolution, Dr. Meissner took part in drawing up the Constitution of the Czecho-Slovakian Republic, and he was chairman of the Constitution Commission of the First National Assembly. He was appointed Minister of Justice in 1920 under Prime Minister Tusar, and again in the present Cabinet formed by Premier Udrzal in 1929.

There is a second Jew in the present Government, Dr. L. Czech, the Minister of Public Welfare, who is one of the leaders of the German Social Democratic Party of Czecho-Slovakia.
