Hard on the heels of the opening of the first Jewish hospital in Slovakia, a similar institution is being planned for Carpatho-Russia, a province in which 120,000 Jews live. The provincial government of Carpatho-Russia has just granted 200,000 kronen for the hospital on condition that the hospital directors raise 2,000,000 kronen. In view of the recent gift of a substantial sum for the hospital by M. Price, an American Jew, its erection is assured.
The Jewish hospital in Slovakia is in Bratislava. It was built by the Orthodox Jewish community of that city with the aid of the Joint Distribution Committee. Needy patients of all religions will be accepted. Dr. Robert Weisz is the director and Dr. Moritz Neumann and Dr. Hugo Roth are the medical directors.
