Leaders of Jewich Community in Salonika Warn Foreign Jews Against Boycotting Greek Exports: Declare

Leaders of the Jewish Community in Salonika are greatly disturbed by reports which appeared in the press that the Jews of Poland, Hungary, United States, and other countries intend to initiate a movement for boycotting the import of Ethrogim from Greence for the coming Jewish Succoth holiday as a measure of protest against the recent anti-Jewish events in Salonika.

The leaders of the Jewish Community in Salonika are of the opinion that such a boycott will only adversely affect the welfare of the Jews in Greece. It will give the anti-Semitic elements in Greece new grounds for anti-Jewish propaganda. The boycott of Greek articles, the Jewish leaders think, would be justified if the Greek nation as such, and also the Greek Government were anti-Semitically inclined. However, this is not the case. The recent anti-Jewish outbreaks in Salonika were the actions of a small group of Nationalists, while the Venizelos Government enjoys the full confidence of the Jewish population, the leaders of Greek Jewry declare.
