The Hitlerists who were sent to prison last week for indulging in anti-Jewish excesses in Berlin on Rosh Hashanah may be retried. The Public Prosecutor has lodged an appeal, demanding a retrial on the ground that the sentences are too mild, and demanding that they should be sentenced to penal servitude. The Defence is also demanding a retrial on the ground that the sentences are too severe.
The trial of Count Helldorf, the Commandant of the Hitlerist storm troops in Berlin, and of his chief of staff, Ernst, which was to have been opened to-day (Friday), has been adjourned till Tuesday.
