Yesterday (Saturday) at about 2 o’clock in the afternoon, a band of “White” Russian students attending the Harbin Polytechnic broke into the Harbin Talmud Torah, while there was a Jewish wedding feast in progress, shouting “Down with the Jews”, and started to beat the guests. A panic broke out and women and children shrieked and tried to escape. The hooligans went on with their work, smashing the windows of the Talmud Torah and wrecking the furniture.

On their way to the Talmud Torah they stopped people in the streets to ask whether they were Jews, and if they suspected them of being Jewish they hit them.

The Harbin police have started an enquiry.

Most of the Russian students at the Polytechnic are sons of Czarist refugees.
