A Jewish shopkeeper named Samuel Weissberger has been arrested by the gendarmerie at Michalovce, in Slovakia, on suspicion of having shot two Christian peasants in 1918, during the time of the Bolshevik invasion, when he was serving as an assistant gendarme.
In Jewish quarters the impression has gained ground that the charge has been manufactured as a sort of counter-blast to damp down the Jewish protests against the acquittal of Corporal Horak who was accused of having shot seven Jews during the same period.
