Rashid Abu Sulman and Khani Abu Sulman, two of the Bedouins who were arrested last November in connection with the murder of the Jewish boy and girl, Stahl and Zohar, from Tel Aviv, who disappeared while on a walking tour, have been committed for trial on a charge of unpremeditated murder. Khani Abu Sulman is only 17 years of age.
The other three Bedouins arrested with them at the time have now been discharged by the Examining Magistrate.
Representatives of the German and Polish Consulates attended the hearings, which lasted all day Monday and Tuesday, the families of the victims being from Poland and Germany respectively. Dr. Bernard Joseph appeared at the hearing on behalf of the relatives.
According to one of the Palestine papers, five Bedouin camelteers coming from Jaffa met the couple walking on the seashore to the north of the River Yarkon; three of them attacked the couple, stabbing Stahl, and then all five violated the girl, Zohar, who never regained consciousness after the assault. The murderers buried the bodies separately. Stahl’s skull was recovered from a hillock, and the girl’s body was some distance away. The bodies were decomposed, but the clothes left no doubt of their identity.
