Dr. Cyrus Adler Honoured on Completion of 30 Years Work with Jewish Theological Seminary

Dr. Cyrus Adler, President of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, was honoured last night at the Seminary on the occasion of his completion of thirty years of service in the Seminary.

Dr. Adler has been presented with a bound volume containing the signatures of 500 leading American Jews, including Mr. Felix M. Marburg, Lieut. Governor Lehman, Supreme Court Judge Cardoza, Mr. Adolf Ochs, the owner of the “New York Times”, Mrs. Jacob H. Schiff, Governor Arthur Seligman, of New Mexico, Governor Julius Meier of Oregon, ex-Ambassador Abram I. Elkus, Dr. Bernard Flexner, General Abel Davis, Mr. David Sarnoff, Mr. Otto Kahn, Mrs. Rebekah Kohut, Mr. Paul Baerwald, the Chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee of America, and Mr. Louis B. Mayer.

The presentation of the volume was made by Mr. Sol. M. Stroock, the chairman of the Board of the Seminary.

Dr. Cyrus Adler has played an outstanding part in many fields of Jewish activity, besides the Jewish Theological Seminary.

He is also President of the American Jewish Committee, Chairman of the Army and Navy Committee of the Jewish Welfare Board, Chairman of the Jewish Publication Society, and Chairman of the Board of Editors of the Jewish Bible Foundation.

He is, too, President of the Dropsie College for Hebrew and Cognate Learning in Philadelphia.

Dr. Cyrus Adler was also one of the organisers on the non-Zionist side of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, and he is the Chairman of the Administrative Committee of the Jewish Agency.
