A further cut of $33,000, reducing the budget of Bellefaire, the Cleveland Jewish Orphan Home, from $180,000 to $147,000, was made by directors of the institution at their annual meeting.
Fred Lazarus, Jr., president, said after the meeting that the reduction was accomplished chiefly by cutting salaries and that every effort was being made to uphold the standards in caring for children. This is the second salary cut at the institution since January 1st.
Fred Lazarus, Jr., Columbus, was elected president of the Board; Adolph Finsterwald, Detroit, vice-president; Alfred A. Benesch, treasurer of general fund; Max E. Meisel, treasurer of sinking fund; Edna Belle Diamond, recording and financial secretary; Alfred Schultz, assistant secretary. Michael Sharlitt was re-elected superintendent of the institution and Jack Girick assistant superintendent. Miss Ruth Cohen was named field secretary.
Several hundred graduates of Belle-faire returned for the annual reunion. Louis Schreiber of Cleveland, was elected president of the Alumni Association to succeed George I. Wirpel of Chicago.
