The martial law decree and the appointment of Chancellor Franz von Papen Reich’s Commissioner in Prussia, is for the purpose of guaranteeing order and should not be interpreted as a move toward Hitlerism, the Central Union of German Citizens of the Jewish Faith, declared today.
Well informed non-Jewish circles also state that the measures are aimed primarily at the Communists and should not be regarded as a move on the part of the government toward Hitler.
