The situation among the Jewish colonies in the Ukraine, whence mass desertions have been reported, continues tense, reports the “Emess.”
The Communist Yiddish organ points out, however, that the condition of the Jewish colonies in Crimea, where the Agrojoint operates, is extremely good.
The Agrojoint work at present is confined to the Jewish colonies in Crimea. The organization withdrew from work in the Ukraine two years ago.
In Crimea, states the paper, not only are the old colonists not deserting, but the newcomers also remain. The only criticism it has to offer is that the newcomers are unable to find accommodations. The Comzet in Crimea, the governmental department for settling Jews on the land and in industry, is, however, doing its best to provide facilities, the “Emess” declares.
