Want Jew As Czech Consul General in Cuba

Foreign Minister Benes of Czechoslovakia has instducted the Czechoslovakian Ambassador in Washington, Dr. F. Veverka, to offer appointment as Czechoslovakian Consul General in Cuba to Mayer Lishovicz, a Czechoslovakian Jew residing in Havana, it is learned here today.

Mr. Lishovicz sailed for the United States today in connection with this matter.

Dr. Lishovicz has been resident in Havana for ten years. He also has the title of rabbi. He is active in Jewish communal life here and is president of the Congregation Adath Israel and of the newly formed Federation of Jewish Communities.
