Miss Dora C. Weiss, of McKeesport, was elected President of the Pennsylvania sections of the National Council of Jewish Juniors at the closing session of the biennial conference held here Sunday. The conference extended over two days and was given over to a discussion of the various philanthropic, cultural and civic activities in which this organization is engaged and to planning the program for the coming two years.

The conference was inaugurated with a banquet where Judge William M. Lewis stressed the part the Jews are playing in world affairs. “If the nations of the world should be gathered into one great symphony orchestra, the Jews would deserve places in the front rank,” Judge Lewis declared. “I claim front rank for the Jews,” he added, “because they have given to the world all the chief religions of the present day, because of their great contributions to culture, and because of their achievements in the field of science. Some day that symphony orchestra may be constituted, when all nations will play together in harmony. It is because some members have been unwilling to follow the score faithfully, or because they wish to play some other members’s instrument, that we have had discords and wars and destruction in the past.”

The delegates were welcomed by P. Edward Barenkopf, chairman of the convention committee; Dolly O. Steel, president of the State section, and Aaron B. Barmach, president of the Philadelphia section.

The early part of Sunday morning was given over to a meeting of the Advisory Board. From nine-thirty till noon was taken up with the morning session which was opened with an invocation by Rabbi Julian B. Feibelman. Reports were submitted by Miss Sarah Miller, Pittsburgh; Miss Beatrice Greenberg, Monongahela Valley; Miss Matilde Haberfeld, Beaver Valley; Mrs. Maurice Davis, Pittsburgh and Miss Molly Fromm, Lock Haven, Pa.

Other officers elected include: Florence Endy, Coatesville, vice-president; Beatrice Greenberg, Charleroi, secretary; Sara Venger, Beaver Valley, treasurer, and Milton Hess, Philadelphia, auditor.

Following a report on national projects by Miss Helma Weisberg, of Johnstown, the board of directors passed a resolution to incorporate male members into the various sections of the group.
