Honor was conferred upon R. A. Raphael, the President of the Bassein Municipality, when the Hon. U. Ba Tin, the Education Minister, presented him with a special mayoral robe and chain of office, contributed by the merchants and traders of Bassein, in recognition of his distinguished services for the advancement of the city’s welfare.
These insignia, for which the sanction of the local Government was obtained, will be worn by the present holder of the Municipality as well as by the succeeding holders of the office on all State functions and ceremonial occasions.
