The University of Vienna has initiated a virtual official boycott of any celebrations of the tercentenary of the birth of Baruch Spinoza.

The University itself held no memorial services, and the philosophic faculty did not as much as mention his name. Moreover, when the Philosophic Union of Jewish Students approached the rector with the request to permit a memorial meeting to be held in a small University auditorium, the request was refused.
