The number of naturalized Jews residing in England was discussed today in the House of Commons.

Sir John Gilmour, Home Secretary, declared that aliens applying for naturalization in England are not asked whether they are members of the Jewish race. For that reason he is unable to give the figures of the number of naturalized Jews.

Congregation Shaarey Zedek of Detroit, Mich., will observe its seventieth anniversary at a Chanukah at its new synagogue on Monday evening, Dec. 26. The event will also mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of Dr. A. M. Hershman’s service as rabbi of the congregation.

Dr. Louis Finkelstein, professor of Talmud and theology of the Jewish Theological Seminary of New York, is to be the guest speaker on this occasion.
