With but four days remaining before January 12 in which to complete its 1932 budget, the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies still has a deficit of $114,000, it was announced yesterday by Paul Felix Warburg and Ira M. Younker, co-chairmen of the campaign. This sum must be raised before the closing of the books to complete appropriations to the 91 institutions affiliated with the Federation.
The chairmen pointed out that it will be necessary to raise $23,500 for each of the four days remaining until the books close on Thursday night. In terms of minutes of support time to these institutions, this sum represents approximately 2,583 minutes per day to be sold at $11 each, the estimated cost to Federation of its care of the sick, the destitute, the orphaned and the aged.
The chairmen expressed particular gratification on the receipt of a contribution of minutes from William H. Matthews, director of the Emergency Work Bureau of the Gibson Committee.
