Former County Prosecutor Jacob L. Newman was unanimously re-elected president of Temple B’nai Jeshurun, of Newark, N. J., at the 85th annual meeting of the congregation—the largest Reform, and oldest congregation, in the state. Rabbi Solomon Foster, spiritual leader, reporting on spiritual and educational endeavor of the temple, said 175 associate members had been added during the last year. It also was reported that there were prospects for balancing the budget in the ensuing year.
Roger S. Rutchick has been appointed to the office of assistant attorney-general by Harry H. Peterson, newly elected attorney-general of Minnesota.
Mr. Rutchick is the first Jewish lawyer to serve as assistant attorney-general in the history of the state. Mr. Rutchick, who is 35 years old, was born in St. Paul.
Michael Sipkins, also a resident of St Paul was named by Attorney-General Peterson as chief accountant of the inheritance tax division of the attorney-general’s office.
