Emir Abdullah’s announcement that he has decided not to lease any land to Jews does not mean the liquidation of all negotiations between Transjordan land owners and Jews is the view here.

The opinion was stressed that many Transjordan Arab chieftains are definitely interested in selling their land to Jews.

It is further pointed out that while Emir Abdullah has expressed a change in attitude, the option which he gave a Jewish company for the lease of his land is for a period of six months. Before that period expires the situation may change again, it is stated. Moreover, the economic situation in Transjordan is becoming progressively worse and for this reason it is believed that the present negotiations will eventually bear fruit.
